Item:283621137492Antique Clock Garniture Item Details This listing is for one antique French clock garniture, dating to the second half of the 19th century, circa 1880. Please note that this clock is NOT being sold as a working clock, but instead, is being sold for restorations, spares and repairs. The set comprises of one black slate clock and two candelabras. The clock comes with a mechanism but is without its pendulum or winding key. The mechanism has a striking component and does come with its bell. When I move the clock hands to the half and hour, the strike does work and the bell strikes the corresponding times. The mechanism has not been 'over wound'. The slate requires a clean. The bevelled glass on the face door is in good condition with no chips or cracks. The slate is free from chips too. The surmounted urn at the top has a 'lyre' finial which requires to be straightened out with a pair of pliers. The original back door is present and correct with its original material. Both hour and minute hands are also present. The two candelabras are in solid condition, again, without chips. They could do with being straightened as over the years of placing candles in them, they have been bent. One of the candle holders have a split in the metal. Both candelabras and clock are inlaid with a veined red marble. All in all, an attractive piece that requires attention.
