Antique Chinese Famille Rose Medallion Porcelain Vase Dragons & Lions China 12"
Beautiful Chinese Rose Medallion Vase from the last half of the 19th Century. Panels featuring court scenes with people and some with flowers and birds. Just under 12 inches tall (11 7/8 inches) Gilt dragons in relief on upper half along with lion or foo dog handles also painted with gold. Gold appears in the borders of the medallions as well.
Condition is as follows. The base was drilled to make this into a lamp at some point. Additionally there is a crack on the underside of the rim that appears to have been stabilized with glue. It does not go all the way through and is only apparent when you turn vase over. There is a flaw in the clay body on the unglazed portion of the base, but this is not rough and appears to have been done in the making, rather than damage. Some wear to the gold and decoration from age, but it’s still a very lovely brightly decorated piece. Please see my numerous pictures.
