Definitely of European origin and most likely from France, the fine Carved Wood Wall shelf is figural and I believe it is the NORTH WIND. The wood appears to be Mahogany (I am not an expert on wood types). It was carved from a single piece of wood and has a brass eyelet on the back for hanging. Well cared for given the age. Please email any questions you may have. 

CONDITION:  Very good, one splinter of wood gone from the very center bottom of the leaf or "air".

MEASUREMENTS:  9" wide and 6" high, extends out from wall 4 5/8".

VINTAGE:  1920's era
