Item:362786466766I AM RETIRED AND HAVE HAD PROFESSIONAL HOROLOGICAL TRAINING. I RESTORE ANTIQUE/VINTAGE CLOCKS AS A HOBBY IN MY SPARE TIME AND SPECIALISE IN CARRIAGE CLOCKS CLASSIC ANTIQUE FRENCH CARRIAGE CLOCK WITH INTERESTING SPORTING PROVENANCE. IN GOOD ORIGINAL CONDITION. IT WAS MANUFACTURED BY RICHARD & Co. IN FRANCE C 1895 . I THOROUGHLY ENJOYED OVERHAULING AND SERVICING IT A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO. Height (with handle folded down) 5 inches (12.5 cms); Width 3 inches (7.5 cms); Depth 2 1/2 inches (6 cms). MOVEMENT: 8-day timepiece with new Swiss lever escapement which works well with good amplitude. It carries the Richard & Co. logo on the back plate and is stamped "MADE IN FRANCE" beneath the click spring. It is numbered (43) inside both plates. The movement was very dirty when I acquired the clock, so I dismantled it completely to check all parts carefully for wear. I hand-polished the pivots, pegged out the sinks and finally, after polishing the parts and rebuilding it, I oiled it back and front with appropriate grade clock oil. The movement now looks almost like it would have done when the clock was first sold!CASE: Solid cast brass case in excellent overall condition. It has an unusual folding brass handle and still has its original base masking plate. All parts of the case including the cast brass base and top, are stamped with the number 89 which shows that it is all entirely original. It has been beautifully inscribed on top with the name of the winner of a couple of races in an athletics match held at the end of the C19th. It was well lacquered when I acquired it so instead of stripping the lacquer off as I usually do, I washed the case parts in warm soapy water and then gave them a couple of coats of wax polish to give some extra protection to the finish. There is some minor discolouration in one or two small spots under the lacquer which is more noticeable in the pictures than it is on display.DIAL: An attractive feature of this clock. The brass chapter ring with inset arabic numerals is set behind a polished matt brass masking plate and is held in position by a small decorative brass centre piece. I gave it a careful clean and a protective coat of wax polish. The dial is original to the clock and in absolutely perfect condition. The polished blued-steel hands are also original and are in perfect condition.GLASSES: The top glass has an unobtrusive crack in the bevel to one side and there is a chip to the top right corner of the left side glass. Otherwise the glasses are all fine; they are all original. KEY: The clock comes with a replacement double-ended brass key. The large end is for winding the eight-day movement and the other end is for adjusting the hands.INSTRUCTIONS: I will enclose with the clock some simple instructions about how to get it going if it has stopped whilst in the post. I will also provide my contact details so you can get in touch with me about care/maintenance etc. THIS CLASSIC ANTIQUE CLOCK IS LOVELY CONDITION AND WILL NOT NEED SERVICING AGAIN FOR SEVERAL YEARS. The clock is rather heavy hence the relatively high packaging and postage charge. UK £10.00; EU £20.00 (approx. 25 Euros); Elsewhere £30.00 I pack well, post promptly after payment (tracked and insured), and keep purchasers informed at all stages of the transaction. I would ask you please to read my 100% positive feedback on eBay - a record I am proud of and intend to maintain. That is your guarantee. Thank you very much for looking and good luck if you decide to bid.Condition:This clock is in good original condition. It was made in France in about 1895.
