Here is a RARE rowing related antique presentation TROPHY to a WINNER of a competition back in 1911.
You do not often see sculling seats as trophies.. pencil oars quite often but to find an actual seat is a real trophy.
So as you can see its been hand painted with the coat of arms and various initials and wording...

WON
O.U.B.C. SCULLS
1911

on the black scroll below the coat of arms.
The wording at the bottom is in gilt

N.M. BRUCE - 10st. 11lbs.
O.U.B.C. stands for OXFORD UNIVERSITY BOAT CLUB.
This chap N.M. Bruce was the winner of that race in a boat on his own and here is his seat.
It is nearly 11 inch long x just over 6 and half inch wide x 1 inch deep wood... it is attached to the metal frame and the 4 small solid wheels too...it has a single screw in the bottom with remains of some wire.. so it probably was once hung up with this....there are saw marks on the base as well ... these I think are where the maker has marked where the wheel frame is to fit etc.
Anyway its a fabulous trophy.
See 3 antique Pencil Oars presented to the same chap also listed on my ebay.

S ee pics.

Please see close up pictures for more detail.

The item(s) are shown next to an English 1 penny which is 20mm dia for scale.

Conversion ... approx... 2.5cm = 25mm = 1 inch
