Item:202729709739Antique 17-18th Century Cage Clock Movement - Restoration for completion Click images to enlarge Description An Antique 17-18th Century Cage Clock Movement A restoration to be completed. -------------------------------------------------------------- You're looking at a rare item. This is a smaller iron and steel clock movement called a "cage" or sometimes "blacksmith's clock" dating to the 18th or perhaps even very late 17th century. This is of a type made in Normandy in France. I found it in the collection of a deceased horologer's (clock maker's) estate. It is clear he'd started to restore this but left it incomplete. So, there is work to do and unfortunately, I've just had to accept that I just don't have time to do this myself. It stands about 35cms tall. Some minor surface dust/orange discolouration and pitting. Please examine the photos to get your own view of its condition and completeness. Shipping PLEASE READ THIS SECTION CAREFULLY We respectfully request that bidders note: If you are outside of the European Union, please do not ask us to make false declarations for customs in relation to the value or any other aspect of the goods. You are also responsible for any duties and taxes you may incur from your own authorities. I CANNOT negotiate on the shipping rates post-sale. These are what we will actually pay to the shipping company, the packing materials providers and EBAY/PAYPAL in their commission charges applied to shipping. Following one or two recent misunderstandings, may I also please re-confirm that this auction is in pounds sterling and not US dollars. We always ship within 2 days but if payment is made on a Friday, we need to hold the package until Tuesday due to local post office opening hours. Please contact us in advance if you wish to ship the clock to a country other than where your id is registered. We may be happy to do so, subject to special conditions. Special Shipping Costs Appeal We are offering this with free shipping in the EU. As you will see from our feedback though, our scores for shipping costs are less than perfect even though we lose money overall every year on shipping costs. We know from discussions with some clients that there continues to be the widespread misconception that the "real shipping costs" can be seen from the label on the box. May we respectfully remind all buyers that this is incorrect. To the costs we pay the shipper, we must also pay 10% to EBAY in commission. If you think that is unfair, please complain to EBAY. We also need to pay around 4% to PAYPAL. Then finally we must purchase the new box and packing materials which we, of course, must add to the cost of shipment. Please take these factors into account when reviewing our shipping charges (which are also made very clear in advance of the transaction). Cheques Payment by cheque is only accepted if drawn in pounds sterling on a UK bank or we will provide a Euro equivalent for a cheque drawn from a French bank. Final clearance is required prior to despatch of goods. Thanks for taking the time to read this ad. Get images that make Supersized seem small.Tailor your auctions with Auctiva's Listing Templates!
