Botanical name: Pterocarpus indicus Country of origin: South East Asia
This is an Amboina burl block. Amboina is intense red to golden brown in the basic color and is very rare to get and not only because of that one of the most expensive burl woods there is! These exclusive grains of Padauk precious woods were the first to be allowed to adorn the dashboards of Rolls Royce. In the photos, the wood is sometimes slightly moistened so that the grain comes into its own! Please note that small open areas and fine cracks (color) can occur from time to time, especially with burl and root wood! The stains are only superficial and can be sanded off! The wood is only in the raw cut, rough sawn, to be kept dry. Possible features such as hairline cracks / ingrowths / insect holes etc. will be marked with paint / chalk as best as possible (but please look at the original photos!).
