ALS from the Scottish Minister and Professor of Hebrew and Oriental Languages, Alexander Brunton (1772-1854), later Moderator in the General Assembly in the Church of Scotland, to a Mr Fletcher at 58 Castle Street [Edinburgh].
'...Giving some little token of remembrance which Mary herself selected for a very few of those whom she loved, she charged me to beg your aceptance of the volumes which accompanythis note. You know how enthusiastically she admired them.....'.
Brunton's wife, Mary Balfour, died giving birth to their still born child, just before this letter, in 1818.
