Seller: themitre (301) 100%, Location: Hereford, Ships to: GB & many other countries, Item: 192263878585 Product: Clubs, Primary Material: Wood, Age: 1850-1899, Region of Origin: African, Original/ Repro: Original, Details: This is one of two clubs recently bought at auction from a vendors private collection. It was listed as "Fijian" but we feel it is African, (you may or may not agree!). It's hand carved from ebony or a similar hard, dark hardwood. The head is bulbous with a raised nipple in the centre of the striking zone. The backside of the head has a rounded ridge that can also be used for striking. This club is designed to crush bones on contact or, possibly, be used as a throwing weapon. Overall length is about 23"/58cm., with the base of the handle flared to help grip. This is a cracking piece that would compliment any collection. Take a close look at the images. Thanks for viewing.
