WE ARE OFFERING FOR SALE AN ANTIQUE BOX TO ENABLE YOU TO BUY A PIECE OF ENGLISH HISTORY ALL ARE GUARANTEED TO BE IN EXCESS OF 100 YEARS OLD Because our boxes are GENUINE ANTIQUES and we furnish every one with a  Certificate of Authenticity signed and dated by us, there will be no customs duty to pay in the case of purchases Worldwide THIS IS A WILLIAM IV / EARLY VICTORIAN   FIGURED ROSEWOOD BOX WITH PEWTER STRINGING AND FINELY EXECUTED MOTHER-OF-PEARL MOTIFS IN SUPERB CONDITION WITH THE ORIGINAL POLISH & PATINA TO THE LID ARE EIGHT STYLISED  MOTHER-OF-PEARL MOTIFS  CIRCA 1830 - 1840 (approx 187 - 177 years old)  Please bear in mind our boxes are antique so any marks and/or minor repairs are commensurate with age and are part  of the life and history  of any antique.  Wherever possible we endeavour to retain the original interiors and try not to  over-modernise.   Often, however, interiors are in  un-usable and un-saleable states so we refurbish as sympathetically as  possible thereby keeping the integrity of the box We also try not to over-restore box exteriors thereby taking away the character   THE MOTHER-OF-PEARL CARTOUCHE IS A STYLISED MOTIF    THE MOTHER-OF-PEARL KEY ESCUTCHEON IS IN THE SAME FORMAT THE INTERIOR HAS THE ORIGINAL PINK SILK PULL-DOWN LETTER SLOT AND AS ONE WOULD EXPECT THERE ARE ONE OR TWO MARKS COMMENSURATE WITH A BOX OF SOME 177-187 YEARS OLD, HOWEVER, THEY ARE MINIMAL THE SLOT HAS THE ORIGINAL DECORATIVE MOTHER-OF-PEARL 'CATCH' AND  ORIGINAL CENTRE FLOWER  MOTHER-OF-PEARL DECORATION THE CROSSED RIBBONS ARE IN A DARKER CONTRASTING PINK AND ARE ORIGINAL  WITH THE ORIGINAL SILK TAB UNDER THE 'CATCH' THE COMPARTMENTALISED LIFT-OUT  TRAY IS ORIGINAL BUT HAS BEEN RE-COVERED IN SILVER PAPER AS WAS ORIGINAL THE BOX HAS BEEN RE-LINED IN PINK PASTEL ART PAPER  RESTORATION THROUGHOUT HAS BEEN KEPT TO THE ABSOLUTE MINIMUM  TO PRESERVE ITS AUTHENTICITY  THE HINGES ARE ORIGINAL  THE LOCK IS ORIGINAL WITH REPLACEMENT KEY FULLY WORKING to enable you to preserve your treasures and/or secrets whether it be jewellery, documents,  specimens or  anything of sentimental value THE BASE COVERING IS THE ORIGINAL OR VERY OLD GREEN FELT Wherever possible, however, we do endeavour to keep the original base covering
