Item:335318593913Victorian Writing Slope Wooden box Ink Wells Brass Cartouche & Escutcheon. A large Victorian writing slope with original lock, hinges, platters, velvet, ink wells and so on. It appears to have had previous attempts at restoration. Black on damage to the front, hole repair in base. I have cleaned it and polished it. I re-glued the skiver to the box and added ribbons to open. The catches that held the platter were not moving, they now move and catch the platter. The lock is broken, the spring that keeps the catches locked/unlocked is missing? broken? It was held open with a tiny piece of wood. I took that out and the box jammed shut, so I have replaced the wood. The box closes but cannot be locked even though there is a key. The inkwells are perfect. No chips etc with brass lids. One has dried ink and the other some beads. I have left them as they are. The base baize is torn but it still does the job of protecting surfaces. Please look at all the photos as they add detail to the description. I do not accept returns but please message me and I will do my best to solve any problems. I try to post next day and will send 2nd class signed. Thanks for looking. I have lots of vintage items for sale. UK buyers only please
