Dent, together with original bracket and receipt of purchase from Dent by Captain Robert Macneill (13th Hussars 1828-1887) 'Xmas 1886'. The clock has arched top with four gilt brass acorn finials, the gilt brass dial with matted centre, silvered chapter ring, chime/silent & slow/fast dials to arch - 'Dent, To the Queen, 33 Cockspur Street, London 30092', flanked by a pair of gilt brass columns, the eight day movement chiming on a gong, a pair of gilt brass handles and sound grilles to sides, on gilt ogee bracket feet, 20" high (excluding bracket). Accompanied by two photographs of the clock's first owner, Captain Robert Macneill, one as a young Hussar, when his family lived near Dundalk, Ireland.Please note that although the clock was fully serviced about 20 years ago, the striking train appears to need attention as when set off it does not stop striking!
