Seller: Top-Rated Seller aladdins.attic (11.100) 100%, Location: birmingham, West Midlands, Ships to: Worldwide, Item: 303032948160 Hi,i have for sale a nice rare Gothic style wall clock that has a very unusual movement inside. In my many years of having clocks,i have never come across one like this before. The case has a gothic style with good deep floral embellishments and carvings. The case has a copper brown sheen and has a squared hood and a narrow lower body.Button decorations adorn the top, side panels and dial plate and there are floral carvings each side of the clock head. The lower body is narrow with similar embellishments and the a floral lower pediment that is angled backwards. To be honest,i have never seen a movement like this before and is almost certainly from a known clock maker. This is a single train 8 day movement that has a pin wheel type escapement. This one however has its pins machined end on the escape wheel instead of side on to the pallet. This results in the pendulum rod having a back and forth motion inside the case instead of a normal side to side motion. The movement has solid cut gears which makes me think it may be English but the thickness of the cogs look American. The movement has a patent stamp date of 1 Dec 4 1883- Jan 1 1884.There is a receipt from 2001 to do a damage repair on the case and a service which cost £450.There were other business cards from a clock restorer inside with repair estimates and dates from the 1970's.The movement is still very clean and I have simply re oiled it as a matter of course. The movement has a good tick and keeps good time, also there is a beat adjustment controller on the left hand side of the clock head. The dial is silvered and has thick cut pronounced numerals and minute track divisions. The hands are steel and have a Turkish style form. The case measures 99cm high x 42cm wide x 15cm deep. Condition report:The clock is in good cosmetic condition and the mahogany carcass is strong, there is no sign of any woodworm. The decorations are fine, there is a small bit of damage to the top right hand crown decoration. All the buttons are present on the front, the top set of buttons on the side panels look like a replacement but they look perfectly fine. The numerals have been touched up with black paint but look fine. The silvered dial is still very good and just has age related weathering. The bottom angled pediment has a crack line but has a central wire support so it is still strong. There are general age related marks etc on the case but on the whole it is a nice attractive rare wall clock. I would love any information on this clock, purely for my own records.I can update the listing too. Please take a look at the pictures to see the general condition. Collection is fine from the Erdington area of Birmingham. The postage will be £16 to send to England,Wales and some parts of Scotland,i can send further but please ask for a quote first. When paid for, this will be ordered for collection on the next day.Sometimes the courier may take up to two days to collect. Many thanks for looking(;o) PLEASE NOTE THAT IF YOU WIN AN ITEM ON EBAY YOU ARE LEGALLY BOUND TO COMPLETE THE CONTRACT.
