A FINE QUALITY MID 19th CENTURY VICTORIAN ROSEWOOD WRITING SLOPE-WITH SECRET DRAWERS Offered for sale is this stunning large very fine quality antique mid 19th century Victorian rosewood veneered on solid mahogany carcass writing slope box having a super original patina; with secret drawers, having decorative brass inlay edging to the front and lid, and a shaped brass escutcheon and (blank) cartouche, see photos. To the sides of the box there are fush hinge carrying handlesInternally the box is fitted with various compartments for pens, nibs, stamps and inkwell bottles where two glass inkwells are present with brass screws lids (see photos ) with no damage. The writing slope flaps have the original leather skiver with gold edged tooling; and when opened reveals paper storage areas which have a fine quality mahogany wood finish, and 3 little secret drawers which are revealed when a spring loaded flap is released, see photos 5 & 6. I believe this box to be all original including the leather skiver lining, brass hinges and 3 gate lock which is in working order with a key. Please take time to study the photographs in order to gain an appreciation of this lovely box.
