This is a bigger & unusual version of the Shiwan pottery preserving jar. It is decorated with  low relief molded-in decoration depicting  man-like images, a phoenix bird, and branches with fruits and florals; the border around the knob and shoulder are lingzhis. The high gloss bluegreen color and thick translucent glaze is almost glasslike. There is extensive crazing all over the glaze. The item  overall is in good condition except for chips on the knob lid . It is stamped China in bold letters at the bottom. This item was likely made ca 1890's-1910.  It is app 18 1/2" around (app 6" wide); 4 1/2 across the opening and 5 1/2" high to the top of the finial. Shiwan pottery is generally crude & rough. The paint/glaze is unevenly applied and some areas are unglazed,  exposing the bisque.
