Seller: donril (1.915) 100%, Location: Northern France, Ships to: Worldwide, Item: 193316820122 A French 18th Century 30-Hour Bracket or Shelf Clock Date - later 18th Century. Chain and Original Pendulum You are looking at a late 18th century French shelf clock. It's of a type made in Normandy. It's a 30-hour movement with an alarm function and ceramic dial. Unsigned. This clock comes with its chain and counterweight plus iron rod pendulum. It strikes the hours and half-hours. The main weight is missing but these are readily and cheaply available. I have not tested this clock. It needs some work and I've reluctantly had to accept that I just don't have the time to put it into full working condition. I can't guarantee this is a full list but the pendulum crutch has become detached and needs to be re-fixed. Apart from that, as far as I can see, the movement seems complete. However, do please note you are bidding or buying this "without guarantee". As I have not tested it, you may discover problems I haven't spotted. Following a friendly and helpful note from another EBAYer, I'd like to clarify certain aspects of this unusual piece: There are two hammers. One of these is clearly part of the standard strike mechanism, the other I am less sure about (having not really examined and tested this movement) but it's liked to a mechanism under the dial which I assume is part of the alarm. However, with the alarm as the rest of the clock, I cannot guarantee it is fully working or complete; I have deliberately called this a "30-hour clock" when in fact, it's design should mean it'll run for considerably longer than that. I have done so to avoid using terms such as "8-day" when I have not tested and proven its duration over longer periods. I hope that clarifies. Height: around 32cms. The dial is, as you can see, damaged and has been repaired at some time. It's appearance could be improved upon with some minor work. PLEASE NOTE in view of this ancient damage and restoration, I cannot guarantee the dial will reach you in one piece. If it does not, you will need to repair it again. No reimbursements or re-negotiation will be accepted if this dial arrives with you damaged further. I will remove and pack it separately in the box to try to reduce the risks. Thanks for taking the time to read this. Condition: Complete with chain and pendulum. No weight. Untested., Age: Antique, Pre-1900, Features: 30-Hour, Style/ Origin/ Theme: French
