The Grand Antique Mall, located in Cincinnati, Ohio, presents Cherilea Toy Lead Soldiers Dragoon Guards Mounted Galloping Horses. 1947. Total of 7 guards on galloping horses, horses’ heads up. Includes officer with sword, 1 bugler, and 5 lancers. Square black cap with left white plume. White plastron with gold frogging. Yellow + red stripe on half trousers. White gloves, black boots. According to James Opie, in his book Britains Toy Soldiers The History and Handbook 1893-2013 , Cherilea Products was 1 of Britains’ 5 main competitors in hollowcast metal toy soldiers. Cherilea was founded in 1947, in Marton, England, by Johillco's chief designer, Wilfred Cherrington, and by his colleague Mr. Leaver. The company's name was formed from their surnames. Cherilea's switch from metal to plastic production in 1956 caused today's scarcity of Cherilea metal soldiers. Very Good condition. No missing pieces, breaks or repairs, save for a single glue repair on 1 horse’s front left hoof, which did well and was stable, during the photo shoot for the listing (horse is 2nd from the left in all photos). NOTE: We carefully pack the pieces for shipping. Each is individually wrapped, first in tissue paper, then in bubble-wrap. Straws cover weapons, horse’s legs, and the like. QUESTIONS?
