~~~ Joe's Rock Shop is selling this item. The shop is well-known and is listed in books such as "Rockhounding Utah" and "Gem Trails of Utah." Located at the corner of Hwy. 89 and 100 North (314 East 100 North), Orderville, Utah, 84758, phone 435 648-2737 . The shop has been in Orderville since the early 1950s when Joe Caruso founded it and began mining Septarians. For the past 12 years the shop has been owned and operated by Ken Caruso. (From 1980 to 1995 the shop was located in the rock-shaped building on Hwy. 89. Some books still list Joe's Rock Shop as being in that location, but it has been back in its original spot on Hwy. 89 a mile north since 1995.) In the spring and summer the shop sells to tourists and many customers who return regularly. The shop also gives out a free map to the Septarian Nodule mining area where people can go look for their own nodules at no cost and take whatever they find. If they return to the shop, Ken can cut them open or cut and polish them, all at reasonable rates, if that is requested. He also ships purchases for travelers. During winter the shop is closed to the public, but many customers keep in touch and send petrified wood and rocks to be polished. Ken Caruso is noted for his excellent polishing and reasonable prices. Thanks for your interest! |
