SUPERB SONNENBERG (SO-CALLED “BELTON” TYPE) BY BAHR & PROSCHILD, MODEL 204, WITH WONDERFUL MODELLING AND DECORATION OF THE BISQUE! She has the Bru Jne face with the illusion of the tongue tip. She was made in the Sonnenberg region as a copy and to compete with the expensive Bru Jne during the early to mid 1880's. Her head features widely arched eyebrows, captivating blue spiral-threaded paperweight eyes, very pronounced closed mouth with shaded and outlined lips, space between the lips to give an illusion of a tongue—exactly as on the Bru Jne bebes--and a beautiful original mohair hair wig. She was made as a copy of the desirable Bru Jne of the period in order to compete with Bru. Description: 26” Bru-Type Sonnenberg Closed Mouth Bebe, the so-called “Belton”, Size #17, featuring an early bisque socket head with flat top and three holes at the top for stringing. The bebe has beautiful quality bisque, stunning bulbous blue spiral-threaded paperweight eyes, widely arched feathered eyebrows, finely painted upper and lower eyelashes, “dot” accents at the inside corners of the eyes, shaded nostrils, closed mouth with white space between the shaded and accented lips to give the illusion of a tongue (exactly as on the Bru Jne models), pierced ears, exceptional antique original blonde mohair wig, and on a Sonnenberg wood and composition body with straight wrists. She has a lovely early face—similar to the early Bru Jne bebe. The quality of the molding and the decoration of the bisque is exceptional. She wears a very lovely antique dress, underslip, pantaloons, socks and French leather shoes marked “CM.” Condition: Please see photos. The quality of the bisque is superb with excellent modeling and very delicate facial decoration. The bisque head has no damage and no repairs. The body is in overall good condition. I think the body is in the original finish, but please see the photos and judge for yourself. The dress, undergarments, socks, and shoes are in overall excellent condition.
