Along the rim is half a medallion with gilded branches and leaves. The final large design , up near the rim, is a branched design in underglaze pale blue, outlined in gilt – very pretty. Three small red and gilded medallions complement and accent the larger designs inside the bowl. The scalloped and undulating rim is edged with gilt. Several Buddhist symbols in underglaze blue are on the outside of the bowl. The shallow foot ring is accented with two thin lines. There is a square mark with three Kanji characters in underglaze blue on the base. MEASUREMENTS5 ¼” diameter and is 1 3/8” tall. CONDITION The condition is excellent, although there is some gilt loss. There are some kiln flaws, such as indentations, in the bowl’s base. The glaze is thick, smooth and the colors are bright.
