Seller: boilyhead (1.262) 100%, Location: wilts, Ships to: Americas & many other countries, Item: 233210267677 A 19c French inlaid rosewood portico clock & stand dating to C1880. Lovely colour and patina and beautifully inlaid with contrasting ormolu gilt bronze fittings. The 8 day movement with outside count wheel and striking the half and full hours on a bell in good working order. The back plate is stamped for "Samuel Marti" a well known French clockmaker. The white enamel dial is in excellent order and has lovely cobalt blue roman numerals. There is a signature on the dial but to faint for me to read. Standing 20 inches high including the stand[51cm] displays really well with all the ormolu still bright and retaining the original gilding. A stunning example of these much sought after clocks. There has been some light very old long deceased woodworm on underside of the base and I have treated again for good measure and filled so no problems there[see photo]. To sum up its a fabulous looking clock with great colour and in full working order that displays really well. Please feel free to ask any questions.
