Item:333062141623A superb early 19c French clock from the empire period and dating to c1820. Beautiful sienna marble case with bronze fittings all in original untouched condition. Wonderful colour to the veined sienna marble and in good condition with only a couple of tiny flea bites. The solid bronze fittings have a lovely nut brown colour and contrast well with the marble. The 8 day movement with silk suspension and outside count wheel is in working order and striking the half and full hours on a bell. The engine turned silvered dial has some wear to the roman numerals and is signed by the maker/retailer on the front. The back door has etched glass[perfect] and front glass is bevelled[perfect]. Standing 18 inches high[46cm] x 9 ins wide[23cm] x 4.5 ins deep[11.5cm]. The clock is surmounted by a two handled bronze urn. A handsome and decorative clock from the golden era of french clockmaking in good working order complete with pendulum,bell, and winding key.
