This tea set comprise a teapot, creamer, and sugar bowl executed in silverplate. The details in this set are remarkable. Each leg is crowned by an Egyptian mask, and each foot is modeled as a hoof. The teapot spout attaches with acanthus leaves, and the finial of the teapot and sugar bowl lid are highly dimensional. Each piece is covered with fanciful engraving. The set demonstrates some of the best in Aesthetic Movement design. There is no maker's mark, but it may have been created by any of the major Connecticut or Massachusetts-based silverplate makers such as Meriden Britannia, Pairpoint, or Wilcox. American silverplate was at one time more popular than sterling silver itself. Silverplate made beautiful and stylish design available to the middle class. Condition: Good vintage condition -- creamer rim slightly bent and worn, various wear and minor losses due to age and use. Please examine pictures, which are part of the description.
