Miniature Chained Bible and Lectern.
Old and New Testaments.
Published by Nimmo, Hay and Mitchell, Edinburgh.
The licence page at the front is dated September 1919.
There are numerous full page biblical illustrations throughout the book.
The Bible measures 2" x 1.25" (45mm x 30mm), and has 876 pages printed on the finest India paper, and is chained to the lectern. It is in original blind stamped leather covers.
The lectern measures 6.25" maximum height x 3.25" across the lectern shelf. The base measures 2.25" square. The lectern is in excellent condition, with no damage whatsoever. On the base is a label explaining the practice of chaining bibles to lecterns in olden days to prevent theft. The magnifying glass is missing.
The pages are in excellent, clean and undamaged condition, with no tears or markings. There some loss of leather at the tail of the spine, and slight cracking to the fore-edge of the spine. The lower cover is worn and chipped along the fore-edge, and is rather fragile.
