Antique and vintage items make nicer than new gifts
Item: Listed here is a large Mid 20th Century Modern kidney-shape serving dish from Carlton Ware's very innovative and imaginative Utilitarian Range, launched in 1958. The decoration is called WINDSWEPT' and is simple but effective...just three long grassy leaves blowing in the wind. It was produced in several twin-tone colours and this version is quite striking with its use of deep see green on a cream background. This is a lovely example of the emerging clean, stylish designs that developed in the late 1950s in contrast to traditional fussy patterns of the 1940s. Please note that we are currently listing other Carlton serving/hors d'oeuvres dishes in the 'WINDSWEPT range, including a 2pc strainer. Details (approximate dimensions): Max length: 33cm/13in Weight: 250g Date and backstamp (see image 5): This 'Australian Design' version of the Carlton Ware back stamp was used during the 1950s and beyond the launch of this range. Condition: All our items are pre-owned and usually range between 10 and 210 years old, so they inevitably (and reassuringly) show some signs of age and use, which we always do our best to reflect in our pictures. Although around 60 years old, the dish is free from chips or cracks. However, these pieces were mass-produced and we notice a couple of minor production flaws; the green paint appears to have been applied by hand and there is a tiny area of missing paint (under the glaze) on the broad green edge of the dish and a pin-prick burst firing bubble in the dominant cream layer near the grass leaves. SHIPPING (within the UK and to the rest of the World): We try to ensure our shipping charges are as competitive as possible by only charging buyers what we are charged by the Post Office or Courier. If you are a non-UK buyer please contact us and we will be delighted to provide a guaranteed individual competitive price for your specific address. As our feedback shows, we also take great care when packing and we are experienced at shipping fragile elderly ceramics and glass internationally without mishap.
