'The Westminster Photographic Exchange London' half plate triple extension field camera with Aldis Uno anastigmat No: 2 F/7.7 brass lens and diaphragm fitted. Early 20th century plate camera that is in generally good condition. The mahogany parts are very well made, good joints and no signs of misuse or damage. Rear standard viewing glass in good condition. Brass fixings complete but show surface corrosion to the lacquer finish. All the knobs turn and lock as designed. It all looks remarkably complete. The lens is in nice condition. Good diaphragm and glass not damaged. A good clean and further detail will make this objective as good as one may hope to find. Includes the original lens cap too. The shutter mechanism will operate but undoubtedly needs a good service, curtain looks ok but speeds slow.. The lens panel and front standard appear complete and also very well made. The problem area and the reason I offer this lovely old camera as a 'spares or repair' item is the brass rail seen in both pictures 11 and 12 has at least one countersunk screw missing which basically means when opening the camera it raises up. This needs suitable screw(s) fixing in place to resolve. The opposite side seen in picture 10 is fine. To get an idea please compare picture 10 with 11 above the rear adjustment knob.. I have no idea which company made this camera for the Westminster Photographic Exchange but whom ever it was certainly produced a fine piece of craftsmanship. The joints and little features such as the pendulum type level speak volumes about the build quality. Triple extension bellows are complete but there are small areas of loss.
