1875 GOVERNOR Friendly Society Asylum Festival Britannia Jewel Bullion #LV13. WOW ... if you collect Victorian Friendly Society jewels or if you are into Britannia related items then this is an OUTSTANDING - IMPRESSIVE jewel. This is an antique Governor's Victualler jewel made from silk, velvet, and bullion thread detailing. It has a gilt metal frame with the words L.V. Asylum Festival 1875 around the edge with Britannia in the centre. There are the Prince of Wales Feathers at the very top in superb condition. It has the word Governor embroidered underneath on the padded shaped ribbon below. No expense has been spared on this jewel. The Society of Licensed Victuallers were founded in 1793 as a Friendly Society for the mutual benefit for publicans. It has changed its name a number of times and in my opinion these jewels - medals are well underrated. See MORE jewels and medals I have from this Friendly Society. No maker's marks etc. In collectable condition with normal signs of age and use wear. No damage to the bullion thread from what I can see. The silk is discoloured slightly on the edges. Please see pictures provided for more details and visual confirmation of condition. It measures approx. 150mm long in total x 50mm wide.
