JENOLAN CAVES,
NEW SOUTH WALES."
Comment :
This historical & original postcard shows a very early 20th Century scene at the popular tourist destination, JENOLAN CAVES in NSW, shows a small barge with guide and visitors afloat in the River cave......I believe the gentleman seated at the front (looking directly at camera, with the large moustache ) is actually JAMES WIBURD (one of the discoverers of this cave and other caves in the jenolan system) who was appointed Jenolan Caves SUPERINTENDANT CARETAKER from 1903 to 1932 !
From some research, The River Cave was discovered in 1903 by James Wiburd, J C Edwards, & R I Bailey., and opened to the public for inspection tours in 1904
