THE TRAMS & LIGHT RAILWAYS OF PORTUGAL, FEATURING THE TRAMS OF LISBON, SINTRA & PORTO, METRO DO SUL, PORTO METRO, THE BEACH RAILWAYS & COIMBRA TROLLEYBUSES, 2 DVD SET.

DVD 1:

Part 1: The trams of Lisbon featuring routes 12, 15, 18, 25, & 28, including scenes from the narrow streets of the Alfama district. Trams operating are the 10 'articulados' and the 45 'remodelados', modernised trams from the 1930's.

Part 2: Lisbon, the sightseeing trams and a visit to the Carris museum at Santo Amaro depot. Also included are the 3 funiculars, Bica, Gloria & Lavra.

Part 3: The Metro do Sul, Almada. The modern light rail system built to connect suburban areas on the south side of the River Tagus with the ferry terminal. Services started in 2007/8 and are provided by 24 Siemens LRV's.

Part 4: The 2 beach railways, the Transpraia on the Costa da Caparica, and the Ihla de Tavira on the Algarve. Both lines are diesel operated and the track gauge is 600mm.

DVD 2:

Part 1: Sintra, the historic 13km line from Sintra to the coast at Praia das Macas, this line opened in 1904 and still uses its original rolling stock, includes a visit to the depot at Ribeira.

Part 2: Porto, the heritage tram routes 1, 18, & 22 operated from Massarelos depot which is adjacent to the tramway museum, also featured in this chapter.

Part 3: The Porto Metro, opened in 2002 and since expanded to 6 lines, this system is operated by 72 Bombardier Eurotrams, plus 30 Flexity Swift LRV's delivered in 2009.

Part 4: Coimbra trolleybuses, Portugals only surviving trolleybus system operated by 20 Caetano vehicles built in1983-8 plus 1 Solaris Trolino (No. 75) which dates from 2009.

Total running time 151 minutes, PAL (UK) system. Subtitles, no commentary, enjoy the sights and sounds of trams, trolleybuses and light rail in Portugal.
