The 2013–14 season marked Swansea City 's 94th journey within the English football league system, and their third consecutive stint in the prestigious Premier League. The season was defined by strategic signings, managerial transitions, and a commendable presence in both domestic and European competitions.

During the pre-season, Swansea City underwent significant squad enhancement, shattering the club's transfer record with the acquisition of Ivorian striker Wilfried Bony from Vitesse Arnhem for a notable £12 million. Other notable signings included Jonjo Shelvey from Liverpool, Alejandro Pozuelo, José Cañas from Real Betis, and Spanish defender Jordi Amat from Espanyol. Only two players departed during the summer, with Kemy Agustien moving to Brighton & Hove Albion and Luke Moore being released by the club.

In the Premier League, Swansea faced a tough start, succumbing to a 1–4 defeat against defending champions Manchester United at the Liberty Stadium. However, they swiftly rebounded, securing their first league win with a convincing 0–2 victory against West Bromwich Albion. The turning point of the season came on 4th February 2014, with the departure of manager Michael Laudrup following a 2–0 defeat to West Ham United. Garry Monk assumed the role of interim player-manager and later secured a permanent managerial position, signing a three-year contract on 7th May.

The league campaign concluded on a positive note as Swansea defeated Sunderland 1–3 at the Stadium of Light, securing a 12th-place finish with 42 points.

Swansea City also participated in both domestic cups, the FA Cup, and the Football League Cup. In the FA Cup, they progressed to the fifth round but were defeated 3–1 by Everton at Goodison Park. In the League Cup, as defending champions, Swansea entered in the third round but faced an early exit, succumbing to a 3–1 defeat to Birmingham City.

The European stage saw Swansea return to continental competition in the 2013–14 UEFA Europa League, their first appearance since the 1991–92 European Cup Winners' Cup. Despite a valiant effort, they were eliminated in the Round of 32 by Napoli, drawing the home game 0–0 and losing the away game 3–1.

The managerial helm witnessed a transition from Michael Laudrup to Garry Monk, reflecting the club's adaptability in the face of challenges. The Liberty Stadium, echoing with the cheers of devoted fans, hosted memorable moments throughout the season, with the highest home attendance reaching 20,769 against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League.

Wilfried Bony emerged as the top goalscorer, notching an impressive 16 goals in the league and a total of 25 across all competitions. The season's journey, encapsulated by highs and lows, demonstrated Swansea City's resilience and determination in the competitive landscape of English and European football.
