This listing is for a capacitor repair kit fitting service for the Sony ICF-SW1 World receiver. The radio pictured is NOT for sale. Please read the listing in full before purchasing this service.
These desirable radios are prone to ageing of the SMD capacitors on the main board
and fault symptoms include loss of audio, signal strength and tuning difficulties.
Audio problems can also result in popping or motor boating sounds from the loudspeaker
but may not be present when using headphones.
This door to door service gives owners the option to have their ICF-SW1 professionally repaired by replacing all of the old leaky SMD capacitors with high quality Panasonic parts which are 105 degree rated to ensure a long lasting repair.
In addition, I will also repair any corrosion damage to pcb tracks or other components
which has been caused by the leaking of highly corrosive electrolyte from the old capacitors, which always occurs to some extent.
Also included is a fitted ultrabright white Led for upgrading to a brighter clearer display.
Before final testing, the volume pot is cleaned with Servisol, which stops any annoying crackles when changing volume.
