They flower throughout the summer months from June to October (remove flower stems when flowers fade to promote repeat flowering), feed every couple of weeks with a general feed. They are great for borders, patio pots and containers. These antirrhinums are not quite as tall as some traditional varieties and can be planted in the middle of borders. Gently squeeze the sides of the "jaw" and the two clusters will separate, just like a mouth opening, release the bloom and the jaw will snap shut! Sowing Seeds - Indoors January to April and also September to October (for early flowers next year) Fill 9cm pots or cell trays with good damp seed compost. Sow the seeds thinly on the surface of the compost. Do not cover the seeds. Place in a propagator or inside a clear polythene bag until the seeds germinate, this usually takes 9-21 days. Light and a temperature of approx 20c is needed for germination. Remove the polythene bag as soon as the seeds germinate (to prevent mould). If the seeds are grown in a tray, transplant into 9cm pots as soon as the seedlings are large enough to handle. Grow on in cooler temperatures. Acclimatise to outdoor temperatures but do not plant outside until all danger of frost has passed. Spacing plants 23-30cm. Seeds will be packed in a manilla/gripseal packet and will be posted in a protective padded envelope by First Class Post with sowing instructions.
