This is a catalogue for yacht fittings and chandlery from PascallAtkey, ship's chandler at West Cowes in the Isle of Wight, UK. The firm wasestablished in 1799. Known for ironmongery, brass forging, and compass making,Pascall Atkey is considered to the oldest known ship and yacht fitter in theUK.
Extremely scarce item. Catalogue itself not datedby publication, but from the heading of each page "established 1799, over136 years old", the date 1935 can be estimated..

Royal Warrants in the front page show Atkey’s were suppliersto Queen Victoria, King George 5th and King Edward 7th(see photos). The Royal Warrants list these monarchs as “H.M. The Late …” – givenKing George 5th died in January 1936, it is likely the catalogue wasprinted then, but before a new Royal Warrant could be issued due to the abdicationand subsequent coronations of Edward 8th and George 6threspectively
Very good condition for age. Over 1,000 monochromephotos and illustrations over 321 pages. The catalogue measures 175 x 270mm. It had been stored in a chain store adjacent to Atkey’s Cowes store.

There are no breaks or splits to the spine. There appears tobe some sun bleaching to the spine and left-hand side of the catalogue; whilst noticeableit is of a consistent size and shape. On the back cover, the upper left-handcorner has some minor damage – please see photos.

Some of the items are of their time; diving bells, startingcanons and pianos designed for yachts of the period.

This includes adverts for International Paints, J SamuelWhite (yacht builders), Beken of Cowes (maritime photographer), Henry Bannister(rope makers), Marconi radio sets, Gieves of Bond Street and Ratsey and Lapthornsailmakers.
