Items Included: (1) 1763. Indenture written on two large sheets of parchment – Relates to property in Saint Andrews Ilketshallk. Between Thomas Coggeshall of Ipswich; John Smith of Badingham; John Revett of Brandeston; Richard Dresser of Blythford; Stephen Welton of Framlingham; James Berry of Ringsfield; and William Leman of Beccles. Duty stamp affixed to top left corner of each sheet and sealed to the rear by a cypher labels. Wax seals. Each sheet measures about 65 cm x 85 cm. (Some surface marks and stains. Quite severe stain to reverse of first sheet. Some corners folded over). (2) 1776. Document on laid paper – Confirmation of the Repayment of a Mortgage as per the terms of a Last Will and Testament. Written on three sides of one sheet of paper. Relates to executors: Thomas Higham of Bollington, Chester; John Minshall the Younger of Bramhall, Chester; and Thomas Brown late of Cheadle Mosely[Moseley] in the Parish of Cheadle, deceased. Nice impression of an embossed colourless duty stamp. The entire sheet, when open, measures about 33 cm x 40 cm. (Several rips, some severe, to the edges and crease folds. Several holes. Red seals are fragile. In a fragile condition) (3) 1795. Document on laid paper  – Attested copy of the Last Will and Testament of William Fisher of Ewhurst, Sussex. The original will was made in 1789. Executors were Sivyer Davis of Bodiam and Robert Tournay of Ewhurst, who were to purchase  government or real securities and interest arising therefrom to go towards the maintenance of Hannah Darby. Written on one side of three sheets of paper plus the cover sheet. Each page measures about 40 cm x 31 cm. There are two quite faint watermarks in one of more of the sheets (visible when backlit): crown over triple oval with seated Britannia within; 'L Munn'. (Small hole in the centre fold of each sheet due to wear in those areas (only affects a few words. Ink has faded somewhat but writing is still legible). (4) 1795. Invoice / Receipt ? – John Torr, for a faculty to build a pew in Doncaster Church... Michaelmas term? Expenses, costs etc. Measures about 28 cm x 20 cm. (Creased where folded with some tears / holes along the creases – fragile). (5) 1806. Indenture on parchment – Lease for a year. Between Thomas Wright and Richard Elsey, both of Downham Market, Norfolk. Blue duty / revenue stamp affixed and sealed with a cypher label. Wax seal. Measures about 35 cm x 60 cm.  (6) 1846. Indenture written on parchment – Copy of the Last Will and Testament of Ralph Berry of Sefton, Lancaster, farmer. People mentioned in the will include: James Knowles of Ford; Lettia Berry (wife); and William Parr of Litherland. There is a Probate Certificate is attached, this has a blue embossed duty / revenue stamp attached and sealed to the rear by a cypher label. Measures about 41 cm x 63 cm and the probate certificate about 17 cm x 30 cm. (Revenue stamp is creased. The cover side of the document is quite grubby). (7) 1855. Receipt – for the sum of three pounds and ten shillings being half a years rent. Colourless embossed duty / revenue stamp. Measures about 8 cm x 19.2 cm. (Creased, grubby, pin holes etc). (8) 1896. Receipt – West of Scotland Fire Office for the renewal of a policy. Measures about 10 cm x 26 cm. (9) Circa 1781 to circa 1800. Document on laid paper – Attested copy of the Last Will and Testament of Ellis Taylor of the city of Gloucester, baker, dated 27 March 1781. There are two watermarks in the paper (visible when backlit albeit difficult to see as faint and obscured by the writing): Possibly 'Durham' and a crown over triple circle with seated Britannia within. The sheet measures about 33 cm x 42 cm. (10) 1893.  Copy Invoice / Receipt – Summerlee & Messend Iron Steel Co.   Bellshill Colliery, Coatbridge. Measures about 21.2 cm x 20.5 cm. Condition: All items have various condition issues such as: small tears / holes, particularly on edges and along folds; bumped / dog-eared corners; worn edges; marks / stains  (1763 document has some severe staining on one sheet)  / grubbiness / discolouration / yellowing; fading of ink / blemish holes / holes along the crease folds etc. Creased where folded and other creases noted. Several documents have quite a bit of grubbiness on the outer pages. Wax seals are fragile, cracked and incomplete. Some of documents on parchment have mottling / discolouration, to varying degrees. Some of the duty / revenue stamps may be creased, faded etc. The colours in the photographs will not be completely accurate due to variables in the photos or scans we use and individual computer settings.  Please excuse any mistakes we may have made in our interpretation of meanings, names, places, dates, words or their spellings.
