RARE 1920's VDA FRANCE Rene LALIQUE OPALESCENT GLASS DAHLIA Bowl

This exceptionally early  Rene Lalique bowl has the molded interior mark VDA FRANCE

This mark or stamp was used for a short time after the factory first opened in 1921. 

The VDA stands for Verrerie D' Alsace. 

Used only from 1921-1923 

The opalescence shows primarily in the base of the Dahlia flowers .

There are several places where there are  hairline cracks in this piece. 

the first one is at the bottom .it is aprox 3 inches and can only be felt on the bottom of the bowl, this one is seen near the leaf

there are two other places that show a hairline possible flaw, they are located on the interior bottom of the bowl and can be felt by running your finger over it.  they do not go all the way through and are possibly manufacturing flaws.

and thirdly there is a hairline crack near the rim, its about an half inch on both sides

though this bowl has those flaws, it's still a beautiful piece and is not in danger of breaking though I am no expert. Though there are flaws ,non of them are fatal and the piece is very much intact. 

This large and very heavy rare VDA Rene Lalique Dahlia bowl measures 9 3/8" X 3 5/8" it weighs 3 pounds and 9 ounces

Some tiny  manufacturing bubbles are  present and there is very light wear from shelf use .
