Genuine hand signed signature of Sir Edmund Hillary KG ONZ KBE (1919-2008). He was a New Zealand mountaineer, explorer and philanthropist. On 29 May 1953, Hillary and Nepalese Sherpa mountaineer Tenzing Norway became the first climbers confirmed to have reached the summit of Mount Everest. They were part of the ninth British expedition to Everest, led by John Hunt.
After his Everest accomplishment he was part of the Commonwealth trans-Antarctic expedition which reached the South Pole in 1958 and later flew alongside Neil Armstrong to the North Pole, making him the first person to have stood at both poles and the summit of Everest. Hillary also founded the Himalayan Trust which was dedicated to helping the Sherpas by constructing many schools and hospitals across Nepal.
