Here is an extremely rare very early vintage original autographed 8" by 10" photo of actor Spec O'Donnell (1911-1986), from 1928. One of the earliest I have come across. Spec O'Donnell was born on April 9, 1911 in Fresno, California, USA. Had 246 credits as an actor in silent and sound eras. Walter D. "Spec" O'Donnell was an American film actor who appeared in more than 190 films between 1923 and 1978. He worked frequently for producer Hal Roach, often appearing in silent comedies as the bratty son of Max Davidson or Charley Chase. In February 1924, O'Donnell signed with Julius and Abe Stern's Century Film Corporation. In 1924, O'Donnell starred in Walt Disney's Alice Comedies. The first of these was Alice's Spooky Adventure, where he features as one of several children playing baseball in a field. The film also starred Virginia Davis (as Alice) and Leon Holmes, with whom O'Donnell featured alongside in Alice the Peacemaker during the same year.  He also had parts in Alice Gets in Dutch and Alice is Stage Struck, which was released the following year. Starred in Our Gang competing series Reg'lar Kids - This series was produced by M. J. Winkler (who also distributed the Disney "Alice" comedies), and was directed by Bryan Foy. Eugene "Pinapple" Jackson and Spec O'Donnell were among those in the cast. All I have from this series is a fragment from "Good Scouts."His sound-era roles were mostly uncredited bits, often as bellhops, newsboys, and pages; he was playing adolescent roles well into his twenties. He has the unusual distinction of playing the same role (a newsboy) in both an original film and its remake: Princess O'Hara and It Ain't Hay. He was known for Accidents Will Happen (1938), Vamping Venus (1928) and Kentucky Blue Streak (1935). Got the nickname 'Spec' because of he was literally covered in freckles. Appeared as adolescent spoiled brats in silent comedy. During the talkies, he graduated to gangling bellboys, gas station attendants, newsboys and students. He was married to Inez Hixson. He died on October 14, 1986 in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles, California, USA. Minor corner and edge wear, minor fading. Extremely rare. Will ship worldwide. I always combine shipping on multiple orders.
