Seller: clockbuster (627) 100%, Location: Sheffield, Ships to: Americas, Europe, Asia, AU, Item: 262730308947 LONDON MAHOGANY LONGCASE TALL CASE GRANDFATHER CLOCK PAGODA BRASS DIAL It is a pleasure to be able to offer this very fine mahogany Longcase / tall case clock with a 12 inch arch brass dial by Percival Mann who was working at Lincoln Inn Fields ,London from 1754-90 and devised a small 8 day watch which was quite a feat at the time. The beautiful pagoda top case is superbly made and of typical high London style with brass filled reeded quarter columns to the hood and trunk but the colour and proportions make this clock better than those normally seen. The colour has faded to a lovely mellow orange colour but the finish is excellent. The piece of mahogany used on the door is magnificent. The 12inch arched brass dial movement is of typical high London manufacture being 5 pillar construction and 8 day duration, striking the hours on a bell and weight driven. It has strike/ silent dial in the arch and the makers name is nicely engraved on a plaque attached to the dial. I also like how close the spandrels are to the chapter ring making the whole dial very attractive indeed. The movement is working perfectly but would benefit being cleaned. The dial is also in excellent condition having been subject to an older restoration. The clock has its brass cased weights, winding crank and pendulum. It is an impressive piece of elegant and very slim proportions being only 7ft 5 inches tall (which is small for a London Pagoda clock),only 13 1/2 inches wide at the trunk and 18 3/4 wide across the hood . The trunk door 9 1/4 wide and 36 inches long. When it is stood alongside a "typical" London Longcase its outstanding proportions can be seen. The condition is excellent and ready to go straight into the home. I encourage any interested parties to view the clock to see how really nice the clock is in person. Like any item of this great age there is the odd age related marks and old repairs but nothing worth mentioning specifically. The condition is lovely.. Should the asking price be paid in full I will fully service the movement, deliver, set up and provide a 12 months guarantee to any address in England ,,Wales and the Scottish lowlands.I will also restore the dial under these circumstances should the buyer require it (I like it exactly as it is) UK buyers are requested to use alternative means of payment to Pay Pal if at all possible If a lesser offer is accepted then it will be considered a trade sale with the clock sold as described and shipping costs the responsibility of the buyer. UK buyers will have the clock delivered or they may collect the clock. Overseas buyers will have the clock professionally crated and shipped. Guesstimate shipping prices are as follows; Europe £400 USA £650 Asia and Australia £800 All good must be paid for in full prior to shipping. Domestic buyers are asked to use alternative methods of payment to Pay Pal if at all possible Wire transfers are welcomed from all countries. Ebay now charge 10% on shipping plus Pay Pal fees. These charges will be added to the shipping costs. All goods will be shipped within five days of payment. Collection is available by prior arrangement All goods paid using Pay pal will only be shipped to the pay pal confirmed address All goods will be shipped by courier ie UPS,DHL,Fed Ex or similar and will be tracked and signed for.I will not ship unless it is tracked and signed for. If you wish to use your own courier I will do all I can to assist. I only charge actual costs incurred for shipping BUT I will use a large box with plenty of packing to avoid damage and this will make shipping (particulary to foreign countries) a little more expensive due to volumetric weight. Custom made boxes, bubble wrap and peanuts all cost money and the cost of these materials will be added to the cost of shipping. For example a Vienna wall clock costs me £15 in materials.I do not charge for my time for packing. Every care will be taken when packing but no liability will be accepted for damage by the couriers and it must be remembered that it is virtually impossible to guarrantee 100 percent that a peice of glass may not be damaged on the odd occasion. Insurance is a difficult and expensive area with respect to antiques and usually has a low ceiling that is why I use recognised tracked and signed for couriers and do not insure seperately. If you wish to seperately insure your item I will do all I can to assist but the responsibility to arrange the said insurance is with the buyer It is requested that all buyers contact me within 24 hours and pay in full within 7 days unless a prior arrangement is made Please do not agree to buy something unless you intend to pay. Goods will not be despatched unless paid for in full. If you see a listing when you are financially indisposed the speak to me as we can probably arrange something to our mutual satisfaction. I have no intention whatsoever rip my customers off and I ask that any buyers afford me the same courtesy. Reputations take a lifetime to build and can be lost overnight.
