Note to Ebay staff – Important - Please read first before deleting or flagging this item for removal:

This listing is for mushroom seeds (Equivalent to a packet of seeds for growing a flower, plant or vegetable in your garden or home) the term in the item title: mycelium / spores refers to the very small (microscopic) live strands of mushroom roots or seeds that the buyer can grow themselves to become adult mushrooms (Like growing a seed in your garden to a fully grown tree or plant).

The variety of mushroom seed I’m retailing in this listing is an edible, non-toxic, non-mind altering variety of mushroom that can be found in many high street supermarkets, specialised health food stores or gourmet restaurants and does not contradict any substance laws whatsoever. Please if in doubt take a moment to google the species - The common and full biological name of the species is listed below directly after this message under the heading “Variety” to aid you with this verification check if required.

You will see they are completely legal and 100% natural vegetables/fungi and fully legitimate species being sold in many shops, food stores and marketplaces worldwide. Please and most importantly finally remember, I am not selling the mushroom itself for any consumption or edible use, but the mushroom equivalent of the seed to allow my buyers to grow the mushroom themselves at home.

To provide further clarity. This listing  does not   contain any food fit for human consumption or medi grade items to be used  on or in   the human body in any way shape or form, and is merely for home and hobby gardening and growing purposes only. The reason the liquid is contained in the medi plastic carrier device pictured is only for the purpose of keeping it clean and sterile whilst in transit.

Mushrooms at this very early stage of their life-cycle are very weak and susceptible to mould, yeast, bacteria and other competing microorganisms (which are all around us in the open air environment) therefore this is why it is vital they need to be contained in a sterile (Clean and sealed) device and not supplied in any old plastic bottle or container that has not been professionally pre sterilised.

The 10ml implement carrying device pictured is 100% plastic/rubber, not dangerous, has no sharps included, and is the best and most cost effective way to achieve this standard of cleanliness as it comes in a pre-sterile packet from the manufacturer (new one + back of packet pictured). Finally this device is CE stamped and UK sourced / Spanish made (as pictured), so does completely comply with all your policies.

I have had various conversations with EBay listing review managers explaining all the above, and after taking their advice modified this listing to include this information for you on all my listings for Ebay listing review staff so as, I’ve tried my best to explain this very specialised and complex subject to people who know nothing about the hobby, and have also fully read up on your policies to ensure this listing does fully comply with all your policies and listing rules.

After looking for themselves all managers I have spoken to within EBay contact centre agree fully that this listing is a legitimate and benign home / hobby gardening related item. If in any doubt A quick search on any online search engine will confirm all of the above from an independent 3rd  party also specialising in this subject.

Thanks for your time, please consider not deleting this listing.

UK Seller - Based in: Somerset, England, UK.

Variety:  Black Morel   (Morchella Angusticeps) Recommended grain spawn:  Rye grain or Millet Recommended bulk substrate:  Hardwood chips Colonising temperature:  23-25 deg c Fruiting temperature:  Outdoor during spring (March to June) Beginner rating: Difficult - More videos popping up online on how to prepare a patch for these wonderful mushrooms. Taste / Info : Probably one of the most prized gourmet species... It is difficult to describe the famous Morel flavour. It is nutty, meaty, and unique. There is no substitute for butter (In my opinion) to bring out is subtle but treasured character of the Morel. Note: Morels are poisonous when uncooked and cause gastric upset.

WHAT YOU RECEIVE:

10ml of liquid Mycelium mushroom liquid culture of your selected species. Extracted in H14 rated lab conditions and end cap sealed up with micropore tape in a clean lab environment.

A sterile pre-sealed transfer device is included in the packet to allow you to inoculate easily and confidently at home.

The contents are then placed and further sealed in an outer plastic packet for further protection of the contents during transit to you.

Unlike many sellers our Liquid cultures are inoculated using cleanly colonised agar slices not liquid to liquid transfer where risk of cross contamination is high – We find this gives our cultures a clean and healthy base and vigorous growth rate.

I highly recommend using this culture within the first 4 months of purchase.

For optimum storage duration please refer to the included sheet that comes with your order.

The sooner you use the mycelium after arrival with you the better.

Mycelium degradation and lethargy will start happening gradually from over 4 months after delivery in ideal storage conditions.

GROWING INSTRUCTIONS

Firstly please kindly and respectfully understand we are a selling platform and a small 1 man band business - Not a learning resource or help centre that can provide limitless support to you.

Mycology, growing mushrooms, sterile techniques, lab equipment, growing equipment, fresh air exchange, humidity to name a few are all vast and complex subjects and many change as per the different species you are growing.

If your unsure of anything or have specific growing questions - I highly recommend you look specifically at the variety of mushroom you are interested in growing, and research the requirements for each species prior to purchasing anything from me. This is readily available information online.

Online forums, YouTube videos, books, groups on Facebook and of course Google are all great resources to learn and ask questions prior to spending your money on anything you’re unsure of how to use...

There are many people making mushroom related content for example see: YouTube. “Freshcap Mushrooms” which is a great channel to get you started on your mycology journey.. It’s a great hobby, and exciting thing to be embarking on.

When your happy you have the info, equipment, and knowledge and also that you can accommodate the spawning and fruiting conditions of your species come back and I'll be happy to provide you with some great quality UK cultures to play my part in helping you successfully grow your own gourmet mushrooms.

IMPORTANT FORMAL DISCLAIMER: All our mycology products are designed for customers with prior knowledge and understanding of mushroom mycology processes and how to use these items in sterile conditions… This is a complex in depth subject…

We will not and do not provide limitless after sales guidance and instruction on how to use these products as mycology is such a vast, detailed & individual project related subject with so very many variables that are personal to you and your individual set up goals, equipment and aims.

Please understand - It is just simply far too time consuming for us for the very small profit we make to pass our years worth of expertise over to you via a very limited text field in an eBay message...

When you purchase from us you hereby agree that you understand that it is your responsibility to have the prior knowledge, adequate equipment, training and understanding prior to spending your money on something you may not have the equipment skill or knowledge to use successfully. It is therefore vital you carry out your own research prior to ordering our products.

You also understand that in the act of using this item in non perfect sterile lab conditions there is a higher risk of contamination, and that you accept this risk when making your purchase.

We have had many customers ask whether simply squirting these cultures into their grass or soil is adequate… Once a bit of learning has been carried out - its easy to understand by any budding mushroom cultivator that this of course definitely is not going to work - and very frustrating from my point of view having to answer questions like this especially after the customer order has been placed, paid and the item shipped… It’s a head in hands moment…

To re-enforce the point, if new to mushroom growing – In the kindest most respectful way I can possibly say - I implore you to do your research prior to purchase, so you don’t waste your & my money and time…

MY TESTING PROCEDURE

Liquid Mycelium is hard to spot contamination on by eye, therefore, to combat selling sub-standard cultures to you, every batch of my liquid mycelium that is for sale, has already been pre-tested on an agar plate by me.

1 cc of liquid from each LC mother jar is placed onto an LME agar plate and grown out for me to monitor its growth.

Providing the agar plate grows cleanly and strongly this proves without any doubt to me that there are no problems or issues with that batch of liquid culture.

This test gives me the ultimate confidence that what I am selling to you is 100% good clean & active culture.

I can grab and supply photographs of each current test plate without any difficulty, just message me at any time and I will be back to you with a pic soon after.

HOW MUCH LIQUID CULTURE SHOULD I USE FOR MY PROJECT?

A good starting point for most people who are inoculating some sterile grain (the vast majority of my buyer's) is to use circa 5ml of liquid culture per 200-250 grams of sterilised grain.

Remember once you have your grain jar or bag successfully colonised, this can then be broken up, distributed, and split with fresh sterilised grain to make an almost limitless supplies of inoculated grain to multiply and keep you going in that species for a long time...

This initial dose quantity however could be modified in either direction dependant on your equipment and experience level:

As a general rule:

More liquid to grain ratio = Better chance and quicker colonisation

Less liquid = Higher risk of competition (Moulds, unwanted fungi, yeast etc)

Additionally though I would monitor and adapt the dosage amount dependant on how wet or dry your grains are after PC cycle (pressure cooking) as you do not want to oversaturate grains with liquid, as this can lead to wet problems in itself.

As you can tell ultimately, I don't have an exact and definitive answer as there are so many variables unique to you and your batch, and hence all figures quoted above are very generic and most definitely changeable.

So do what you think is right, monitor your own batches water content and adjust accordingly.

Play to your own comfort level, experience level and mycology education level.

MY EQUIPMENT:

My lab filter is H14 rated which is specified to top of industry standard:

HEPA H14 - EN 1822 (> 99.995% MPPS,  99.999% @ 0.3µm)

So what does that mean?  Basically the filter will scrub out or remove from the air 99.999% of particulates (solids) down to a size of 0.3 microns in size.

Why is 0.3 microns so important?  Mould spores, bacteria, yeasts and pollen (The biological contaminants we are very interested in removing when cultivating mushrooms) are all larger than 0.3 micron in size, therefore as you can see a filter of this specification basically removes them all making the area where I work to prepare your cultures completely contamination and particulate free.

My lab is purposely designed to be small contained unit

After 5 minutes of running my flow hood - The air within the lab has been scrubbed many 10’s of times and passed through the fan & H14 HEPA filter.

Prior to any clean work taking place the flow hood is running for at least 30mins ensuring all air within the lab space is scrubbed many times over and perfectly clean before work commences.

All work is completed on a stainless steel surgical grade purpose made table, with flood lighting from above

Tools and equipment are metal and flame sterilised where possible, all soft goods which cannot be flame sterilised are UV sterilised instead.

A virostatic face snood, nitrile gloves and lab coat is worn by myself during any clean work.

70% Isopropyl alcohol is used for disinfecting any hard surfaces, hands and wrists.

All American pressure cookers imported from the USA are used for any pressure serialisation techniques of liquid culture and agar plates.

All completed cultures are stored in a designated laboratory fridge with nothing but complete and air sealed cultures inside.

DO I NEED A FLOW HOOD LIKE YOU?

Definitely not…

Many successful home growers and non professional hobbyists succeed with something called a still air box (SAB) this is something that is extremely affordable.

It’s what I started with as a hobbyist many years ago, and is merely the price of a large plastic storage box (from Homebase, B&Q, Wilco or another hardware store) and will serve you well for all your home grow gourmet mushroom projects.

The SAB is not 100% perfect nor fool proof, but more than adequate to get you started on your mycology journey. Providing your willing to have the odd batch contaminate…

There are loads and loads of information on SAB's on the net, how to build them, the strengths and weaknesses of using them etc.

Issues with contamination or lack of growth?

Please remember - All my cultures are tried and tested in a professional lab set up, prior to being marketed and purchased by you, so when they are sealed in the lab - I can almost guarantee they are contaminant free and have already just grown out on an agar plate.

On opening the sealed bag and using this product any source of contamination can occur - Please remember spores and contamination are all around us in the open air.

If you experience some form of contamination or problem through your grow, please review your own procedures very closely first, and research the problem and your growing process and procedures yourself prior to contacting me.

Due to equipment, facilities and experience we have here along with the vigorous testing we complete on the cultures with test plates, prior to shipping - It is far more than likely something at your end has gone wrong.

We also sell batches of 15 via our many selling platforms – I will be able to confirm with you very quickly If any of the other 14 cultures that have been sold have had any issues.

POSTAGE / MISSING PARCELS / WEEKENDS

This saves the cultures sitting around in the postal system for longer than absolutely required. Please take this additional time into consideration when looking at how fast your order has arrived with you, all other days parcels are processed within 24hrs (usually much faster)

I am here to help and look out for my customers whole heartedly - However will not take kindly to unfair/abrupt or unjust people who feel that they must leave a negative comment before even so much as having the common curtesy to contact me first…
