GEORGIAN ANTIQUE
CHEMIST'S or APOTHECARY'S
BRASS MORTAR & PESTLE
In my estimation it dates from around the mid 18th Century, circa 1750-1780, but please make up your own mind about this.
The mortar measures approx 5 inches (130mm) tall, by 5 1/2 inches (145mm) in diameter.
The pestle measures 10 1/2 inches (270mm) long.
Both are made from solid brass and have typical 18th Century ring turned decoration around the sides, and underneath the mortar.
It is in good, antique condition with light wear consistent with its great age, but no damage or repairs.
This is a fine example of its type and it would make a great addition to any collection.
Please see the photos for condition and type.
