Fine large 18th century portrait of Horatio Nelson in full officers uniform as Commodore of the British Navy, oil on canvas by major portrait painter Thomas Beach. Dated 1796, superb profile portrait of Nelson, one of the leading figures in British Naval history, painted with excellent detail the the face, blushed cheeks and highly decorated uniform. Signed and dated, one of a pair we have that Beach would have been commissioned to paint, the other is the Duke of Wellington. Good gilt frame. Traditionally identified.
