This auction is for a very rare and unusual (possibly handmade 'marriage' gold painted statue figure/bust of Edward VIII) which is also a clock but the clock is not currently in working order. There is a maker's mark to the back of the base - I think it is for B & B with a registration number 816538. Unfortunately, I have not been able to find any information about this maker.
Edward VIII abdicated in order to be able to marry Wallis Simpson, so his coronation, planned for 1937 and the year date on the piece, did not take place.
The clock part of the piece is by Mercedes - it is not working, possibly because it is over-wound. I have not taken the back off, so it might be fixable.
Approximate measurements: 28 cm tall x 21 cm wide x 15 cm depth. The clock/statue weighs almost 2 kilos, so postage is restricted to mainland UK addresses.
This very unusual Edward VIII statue/clock will be quite a talking point - a decorator's piece.
Please take time to view all of the photographs as these are always the most helpful part of a condition report, but please also read the item specifics and my written condition report, prior to bidding.
Postage is £8.50 and due to size / weight is restricted to mainland UK addresses only.
Please note that for all my items I use a Royal Mail tracked service. It is not necessarily always the cheapest option, but it is the most reliable and frequent shipping method from rural West Wales.
Thank you for looking.
