WOODEN COVERED BRIDGE Photography Collection 119 Photos Circa 1930-1940
DETAILS: Estate collection of vintage photographs of covered bridges taken around the Northeastern United States. Circa 1930-1940. The original compiler of this unique one-of-a-kind photo collection was an architect who was fascinated with wooden covered bridges. According to his son; beginning sometime in the 1930's he began travelling around the US taking photographs of different covered bridges. We have only been able to identify a handful of the specific bridges listed below. The others we were unable to identify and they may not even still be in existence to identify. We beleive they were taken primarily in the Northeast US but cannot be certain Of the 119 photo images, 105 of them are real photograph post cards (RPPC), 7 are black and white stereoview negatives, 6 are color stereoview transparencies and 1 is an actual stereoview photograph. The following is a list of the bridges we were able to identify: 1. Hoosick Falls / Bennington New York 2. Cornish, New Hampshire 3. Holland Bridge, Townshend Vermont 4. Village Bridge West Swanzey New Hampshire 5. Old Comstock Bridge, Conn. 6. Upper Falls Bridge, Downers Vermont
