Gwendoline Page - who, when WW2 broke out, became a Wren, worked at Bletchley Park & was posted to Colombo, Ceylon (Sri Lanka) - has collected a batch of memories in one volume. The contributors to this cracking book were all members of the Women's Royal Naval Service (WRNS). These very young women left their homes and families and signed up to be wrens in WW2, and, as chance would have it, were posted to arguably the single most secret organization of the war. While there they spent long hours operating mysterious clattering machines called Bombes, lived in bunk-beds in massive stately homes, went to dances and explored the local countryside. This collection of true stories provides dozens of unique insights into what it was like to work at Bletchley Park. Will ship by Royal Mail 1st Class Signed for, well packaged. (£5.39/mil)
