Product description:
Osmo's range of Hardwax Polyx oils combines all the advantages of oils and waxes in one unique product. Osmo Polyx®-Oil is resistant to water and dirt, is very durable and smooths wood surfaces. In comparison to conventional finishes, the natural vegetable oils and waxes allow for an even colouring and a harmonic, smooth surface result.
Easy application with no need for a primer or sanding between coats saves time and money. It meets the wood's natural demands: It is microporous and does not crack, flake, peel or blister.
Recommended Uses:
Osmo Polyx oil is only for interior use and is ideal for wooden floors, solid wooden flooring, stripped parquet, OSB or cork flooring. It is also highly recommended for wooden furniture, it can also be used for slate, terracotta and other natural (non glazed) ceramic tiles.
Osmo Polyx hardwax oils are resistant against wine, beer, cola, coffee, tea, fruit juice, milk and water in accordance with DIN 68861-1A (German industrial norm). When dry, the finish is safe for humans, animals and plants (suitable for children's toys as per. EN 71.3 (European norm) and fast to perspiration and saliva in accordance with. DIN 53160 (German industrial norm)).
Sizes: 5ml Sachet, 125ml test pot, 750ml, 2.5 litres and 10 litres
Coverage: Approximately 24m² per litre per coat, raw wood will require 2 coats
Every order is sent out with a detailed product information sheet but please contact us should you require any further information. If there is any doubt over application we always recommend doing a test area first.
Preparation: When applying Osmo Polyx Oil the wood surface must be clean and dry (moisture content max. 20%). Polyx®-Oil is ready to use straight from the tin, please do not thin but stir well before use. Clean or slightly sand old microporous finishes, remove any old varnish or lacquer finishes (Osmo Paint Remover or by sanding). Small cracks, larger dents and small holes in the wood can be filled with Osmo Wood filler or sealant. Sand carefully before application starting with a coarse paper, the final sanding for flooring is no finer than P100-150 and for furniture P180-240. Remove dust etc. thoroughly from the surface before application (vacuum cleaner).
Application: Apply thinly and evenly along the wood grain with either a natural fibre brush, the Osmo Floor brush, a clean lint free cloth or a microfibre roller, and spread well. Allow for good ventilation whilst drying. Apply a second coat as before. For the renovation of oiled/waxed surfaces, generally only 1 coat is required. This should be applied to a clean and dry surface. The final surface quality is dependent on the wood's surface structure, we therefore always recommend to test the product on a small sample area before complete application. Cleaning of tools: Clean working utensils with Osmo Brush Cleaner (benzene-free). Drying time: approx. 8 -10 hours (normal climatic conditions, 23°C/50%, relative humidity). Lower temperatures and/or high humidity can increase the drying time. Note: Natural oils accentuate the natural colour tone and grain of wood (permanent wet look). A dry Osmo Microfibre Roller can be used, if necessary, to roll out brush marks within 30 min of application. Cork flooring is highly porous and requires an especially thin application, as a result the drying time is increased (min. 24 hours per coat). Caution: For cupboards, wardrobes and drawers, only 1 thin coat should be applied with a cloth. Floors finished with Osmo finishes are easy to clean, remove loose dirt with a soft brush or vacuum cleaner. Damp mopping is easy with Osmo Wash and Care, simply add to warm water (slightly moist mop only). Osmo Liquid Wax Cleaner can be used for refreshing the floor surface as required (Please see our other listings). If a higher level of sheen is desired, and after cleaning and thorough drying, apply the Liquid Wax Cleaner thinly and polish when dry. For dark hardwoods (such as, Wenge, Teak, Merbau, Jatoba ...) we recommend using Osmo Wood Wax Finish Clear Extra Thin 1101. A trial application is most definitely recommended.
