Synopsis

The Three-Body Problem - 1967: Ye Wenjie witnesses Red Guards beat her father to death during China's Cultural Revolution. This singular event will shape not only the rest of her life but also the future of mankind. Four decades later, Beijing police ask nanotech engineer Wang Miao to infiltrate a secretive cabal of scientists after a spate of inexplicable suicides. Wang's investigation will lead him to a mysterious online game and immerse him in a virtual world ruled by the intractable and unpredicatable interaction of its three suns. This is the Three-Body Problem and it is the key to everything: the key to the scientists' deaths, the key to a conspiracy that spans light-years and the key to the extinction-level threat humanity now faces.

The Dark Forest - Imagine the universe as a forest, patrolled by numberless and nameless predators. In this forest, stealth is survival - any civilisation that reveals its location is prey. Earth has. And the others are on the way. The Trisolarian fleet has left their homeworld and will arrive... in four centuries' time. But the sophons, their extra-dimensional emissaries, are already here and have infiltrated human society and and de-railed scientific progress. Only the individual human mind remains immune to the sophons. This is the motivation for the Wallfacer Project, a last-ditch defence that grants four individuals almost absolute power to design secret strategies, hidden through deceit and misdirection from Earth and Trisolaris alike. Three of the Wallfacers are influential statesmen and scientists, but the fourth is a total unknown. Luo Ji, an unambitious Chinese astronomer, is baffled by his new status. All he knows is that he's the one Wallfacer that Trisolaris wants dead.

Deaths End - Half a century after the Doomsday Battle, the uneasy balance of Dark Forest Deterrence keeps the Trisolaran invaders at bay. Earth enjoys unprecedented prosperity due to the infusion of Trisolaran knowledge. With human science advancing and the Trisolarans adopting Earth culture, it seems that the two civilizations can co-exist peacefully as equals without the terrible threat of mutually assured annihilation. But peace has also made humanity complacent. Cheng Xin, an aerospace engineer from the 21st century, awakens from hiber-nation in this new age. She brings knowledge of a long-forgotten program dating from the start of the Trisolar Crisis, and her presence may upset the delicate balance between two worlds. Will humanity reach for the stars or die in its cradle?

Book Gradings

Below are the explanations for the book gradings we use in all our listings. A grade is given to both the book and the dust jacket where one is present. The format is 'Book Condition/Dust Jacket Condition' (e.g. Fine/Fine)

VERY FINE (VF): An excellent copy almost like new. Unread, but may have some very minor signs of ageing or handling. Many of the books offered as 'new' in the high street would not meet this standard. Any minor defects will be noted.

FINE (F): An very nice copy which may have some very minor shipping, shelving or storage defects to the dust jacket in form of rubs or scratches. The book possibly having very slight bumps to the boards. Any defects present will be noted.

VERY GOOD (VG): A lightly used or lightly read book showing some signs of wear on either the binding or the dust jacket. The dust jacket may be price clipped and the book may have bumps to the corners. All defects present will be noted.

We do not offer any books with a rating below very good despite several such ratings exist. We want our customers to be able to choose books from us with complete confidence in the quality of the book they order. We never sell any ex-library or book club editions, no matter how rare they may be.

Packaging & Posting

At Just Fiction Books we love all books and we hate to see them spoilt in the post for the sake of saving a couple of pence. We pride ourselves on the quality of our packaging whilst keeping the cost reasonable.

We protect all our books with an archive quality removable clear plastic wrapper before placing them in a plastic bag. We then securely bubble wrap them before sending them out in a strong corrugated box or special corrugated cardboard wrapper. We never use padded bags for any of our books.

For your peace of mind all our orders are inclusive of the appropriate insurance cover. We obtain certificates of posting for all items which provides insurance for up to £35 in value. For more expensive items we purchase additional insurance cover. Should an item go missing in the post, we will refund the cost of the book in full, but we are not able to guarantee to refund the postage costs unless Special Delivery within the UK has been chosen.

If the book is to be shipped outside the UK then please wait for us to send you an accurate invoice before paying for your book. The indicated P&P cost for international shipping is a guide only as the weight bands are very narrow. We guarantee it will not be more than the amount shown, but in many cases it will actually be less.

Presents & Gift Wrapping

We are pleased to offer a free of charge gift wrapping service should you want the book sent directly to someone as a present. We are also more than happy to add any message you would like and we will of course remove all references to the cost of the book for you. If you would like to use this service just send us a message through eBay messages, include a message with your PayPal payment or simply click on our logo at the bottom of this listing to email us directly.

Payments

We request all buyers to pay within 7 days of purchase please unless by prior arrangement. We prefer payment by PayPal either directly from your PayPal account or with any major credit card through the PayPal interface. We are also pleased to accept Personal Cheques, Bankers Drafts and Postal Orders from our UK Customers. If for any reason you are unable to pay within this timescale then please use eBay messages or click on our logo at the bottom of this listing to contact us. We are understanding reasonable people, we will respond quickly and try to come to an arrangement.

Returns & Refunds

We genuinely want each of our customers to be delighted with the book or books they have purchased from us. We describe books as carefully as we can and try to err on the side of being over critical. However, we are human and we do occasionally make mistakes and miss things.

If for any reason you are not happy with your purchase in the first instance please e-mail us (using the link below) with the reasons and we will quickly sort the matter out for you. We do offer a no quibble refund within 14 days of purchase provided that the book is returned in the same condition as when it was received.
