BRITISH HOROLOGICAL LUBRICANTS WATCH OIL "PRO"
10ml Bottle
Our “PRO” oil is a light low viscosity lubricant suitable for modern watch gear trains & all watch escapements (for vintage or antique mechanical watch trains our “classic” oil is better suited).
Our “PRO” oil is best for to low-torque, high-speed applications such as 3rd, 4th, escape wheel pivots, balance pivots, escape wheel teeth, etc.
Using this thinner high viscosity lubricant for low-torque, high-speed applications is recommended.
This includes the pivots of the fourth and fifth wheels and of the pallet arbour and also the impulse faces of the pallets and escape teeth.
Many watchmakers and clockmakers use the same lubricant for the first and second & third wheels as they do for the escapement, many use our "classic" oil which is suitable for that.
However when lubricating a watch or clock, it is worth considering the use of more than one grade of oil.
Consider using the following:
1. Our “pocket” oil is a heavy high viscosity lubricant for high-torque, low-speed applications such as mainspring, 1st and 2nd wheel pivots of most mechanical watches, and of course pocket watch gear trains.
Our “Pocket” oil is particular suited to the pivots of the barrel and centershaft and third wheel.
The watch's winding parts of most watches should be lubricated with a heavier lubricant like our “pocket” oil.
One problem frequently encountered in automatic watches is wear in the rotor arbour and its bushing: a heavier lubricant should be used here because the rotor is relatively heavy.
2. Our “classic” oil is a medium viscosity lubricant & a good all rounder & can adequately lubricate all watch parts.
However our “pro” oil has a lower viscosity is better for escapements and the “Pocket” having a higher viscosity is better for low speed applications.
3. Our “PRO” oil is a light lubricant for low-torque, high-speed applications & is better for 3rd, 4th, escape wheel pivots, balance pivots & escape wheel teeth etc.
