Bright and cheerful green leaf design novelty butter dish by Beswick. Its formed to look like overlapping salad leaves with a hand painted tomato finial. The glaze is rich and shiny and its clearly marked with maker's name on both pieces, see images. There is glaze crazing to areas on the lid and the lower rim has a couple of stains, where the glaze is thin or non-existent. No chips or cracks or areas of bad wear. (The hole on top of lid is intentional, to stop the butter sweating). It dates from 1930's and this piece comes from a small collection which includes salt & pepper, sauce boats, jam pots etc, if there is any interest I'll list them later. Measurements are approx 6" x 5" x 4" high
