Up for sale is a Bach Stradivarius Model 6 VI Vincent Bach Corporation Professional Trombone. Serial # 19xx. Made in New York, USA, this 1940 era horn has the same bore and bell size of the modern Bach 6, but is a bigger blowing horn than newer models. The trombone is made of yellow brass and solid nickel. There are various small dings on the instrument and some creasing on the bell rim (see picture). There is some scratching and pitting throughout. We decided not to remove these, but determined that a light buffing and a lot of hand polishing would be best; this is a very light instrument with additional thinning unnecessary. The slide action is good to very good, and the stockings are in nearly original condition-no wear-through and no scoring, with good compression. This instrument is not lacquered; therefore, this instrument may have to be polished periodically (we recommend using Weiman METAL Polish). This trombone comes with a vintage gold-plated Vincent Bach mouthpiece and used case. The case is serviceable, but is not in great shape. The bell is 7" and has a flat french bead rim, different than most. It has medium bore .485/.485. This horn has good intonation and a nice sharp, crisp tone with lots of power. With a big full sound, this horn plays surprisingly bigger than you would expect for it's size.
