A pair of Paris coloured porcelain figurines of masquerade dancers. Beautiful enamelling in pink, white and lilac palette adorns their rich Rococo costumes; both figurines are hand-painted with flowers and sumptuously gilded. The gentleman is wearing a tricorne hat and holding a mask in his hand; the lady is holding a fan.

Made by Vion Et Baury At Choisy Le Roi, France, c. 1880's, marked with green anchor mark to the underside.

Jean Gille founded a porcelain factory at Rue de Paradis-Poissonniere in France around 1845. He mainly made biscuit figurines that were of very high quality. His chief modeller was Charles Baury who later took over the factory with Désiré Vion and thus it became known as Vion and Baury, later moving production to Choisey-le-Roi in 1875. Both won several medals at the world exhibitions.
